The Power Of An Invitation

This weekend I was attending a Christmas party. At the party was someone with a familiar face who I couldn't quite place. I seemed to remember that we both went to a Lutheran church back in 1990.

So, I asked him if he went to the particular Lutheran church I use to attend. He said that he only attended there for a short time. His eyes got real big though and he remembered me.

As it turns out, back in 1990 we were both attending some event at this Lutheran church. This church had a wonderful pastor, but didn't have much to involve singles. You could probably count the number of singles on one hand. At that time, I was attending a singles gathering at a Bible fellowship church on Sunday evenings. So, when I was at this Lutheran event I told this guy (Mike) about a singles gathering I was going to that evening at this Bible Fellowship church and asked Mike if he wanted to go. He went to the Bible Fellowship church that night and is still a member there.

He said how that one invitation from me changed the whole course of his life. He went on to tell everybody at the party about the 'Power Of An Invitation'. He said that because he knows how much an invitation can change a life, he is not hesitant at all to invite people to church.

That came back to convict me because I am really bad about inviting people to church.

So, this is something for all of us to ponder the next time the Holy Spirit is tugging at our hearts to invite someone to church or wherever the Holy Spirit is telling us to invite them.

It is good to help someone. A person should be ashamed to have lived a life and never helped someone better themselves.
