The Christmas Spirit

Last night I attended a Christmas Concert at Prestonwood Baptist Church which is a mega church in the Dallas area. The special guest was John Tesh. John Tesh use to be an anchor person on Entertainment Tonight but he left that show to pursue a Christian music career. The choir and orchestra from Prestonwood was awesome and John Tesh and his group were very inspirational. John Tesh encouraged us all to serve others.

It warms my heart to see this serving spirit catch on so much. In July I started working with the SOUL ministry which feeds the homeless on Sunday morning and holds a church service for the homeless. In July, there were perhaps about 15 volunteers helping every week. I think today there were about 50 volunteers. The man who runs the ministry had tears in his eyes. He said that he use to pray and ask God where were the workers to help him. God has truly answered his prayer with many workers.

The awesome thing though is that everybody who volunteers (including myself) is so blessed by the people we serve every week. Most of the people we serve are so grateful for just a little bit. It makes me even more grateful to God for all the blessings he has given me.
